# Overview

Use the Voiso Outbound SMS API to enable external applications to send SMS. For example, you can use it to enable agents to send an SMS from your CRM.

The SMS API does not currently allow you to send bulk SMS.

## Send an SMS
The SMS API enables agents to send SMS to contacts from your web application or CRM using a [POST](/v1-api/apidocs/send-sms) request. Request and response payloads are formatted as JSON, using UTF-8 encoding and URL-encoded values.
