# ASR by country by hour

**Who should read this article**: Administrators, Supervisors

Report the ratio of successfully connected calls to total call attempts by country, broken down by hour.

## Introduction

The **ASR by country by hour** report provides hourly Answer-Seizure Ratio (ASR) statistics for a specified time period.

This report includes the standard telecom ASR, additional call connection metrics, and the Voiso ASR. The Voiso ASR excludes calls answered by Voicemail. See the [Results](/v1/docs/reporting-asr-by-country-by-hour#results) section for more details.

This report includes only manually dialed and click-to-call outbound calls. It returns hourly ASR values by country for each selected agent.

          Note

Dialer Campaign call ASR values are available in the [Campaign Report](/v1/docs/outbound-dialer-running-a-campaign#campaign-reports).

The ASR by country by hour report supports both [scheduled](/v1/docs/reporting-historical-reports-overview#scheduled-reports) and [manual](/v1/docs/reporting-historical-reports-overview#run-report) generation.

### What is ASR?

ASR (Answer-Seizure Ratio) is a standard telecom metric used to assess call success rates and network quality. It is calculated as the ratio of answered calls to total call attempts, expressed as a percentage.

A high ASR indicates better call connectivity. A low ASR can point to issues like blocked or incompatible Caller IDs, call congestion, network instability, or failed attempts due to busy signals or unanswered calls.

## Configuring the report

### General section

The default reporting window is 09:00–18:00 in the [contact center’s configured time zone](/v1/docs/administration-system-settings).

To change the period, select the starting hour and enter a new time in hours and minutes, then do the same for the ending hour. The range must fall within a single calendar day. Use 24-hour clock values.

### Assigned teams section

The report aggregates ASR metrics by [team](/v1/docs/users-teams) for the selected date range.

Click **Manage** to select one or more teams to include in the report.

### Assigned country section

The report aggregates ASR metrics by country.

Use the **Country** menu to select the destination to report on.

### Schedule

This report can be scheduled for automatic delivery to one or more email addresses. For details, see [Historical reports overview](/v1/docs/reporting-historical-reports-overview#scheduled-reports).

### Run report

To run a one-time report, select the reporting date and click **Generate report**. You can choose to save the current configuration for future use.

See [Historical reports overview](/v1/docs/reporting-historical-reports-overview#run-report) for more details.

## Results

The **ASR by country by hour** report returns ASR statistics if at least one call was placed to the country on the specified day. Results are displayed in a table and can also be download as a CSV file for external processing.

The report table contains the following columns:

| Column | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Hours | One-hour time blocks for the specified day. |
| Total Call Attempts | Total number of call attempts to the selected country during the hour. |
| Effective + Not Effective | The number of answered calls during the hour that exceeded the [Effective Call Duration timer](/v1/docs/administration-system-settings#timers) plus the number of calls that did not exceed the Effective Call Duration timer. This value *does not* include calls answered by Voicemail (DVM). |
| Effective | The number of calls during the hour that exceeded the [Effective Call Duration timer](/v1/docs/administration-system-settings#timers). |
| Telecom Ans. Ratio | Answer Seizure Ratio used by telecom businesses. The number of effective calls plus the number of not effective calls, *including* calls answered by voicemail (DVM), divided by the total number of call attempts, expressed as a percentage – reported for the specified hour. |
| Ans. Ratio | Voiso Answer Seizure Ratio. The number of effective calls plus the number of not effective calls divided by the total number of call attempts, expressed as a percentage – reported for the specified hour. This is the same as the **Ans. Ratio** in the **[ASR by Caller ID by country](/v1/docs/reporting-calling-number-monitoring)** Real-time dashboard widget. |
| Effective / Total | The number of effective calls divided by the total number of call attempts, expressed as a percentage – reported for the specified hour. |

ASR (Answer Seizer Ratio) is a telephony metric that measures the percentage of successfully connected outbound calls. It is calculated as:

**ASR = (Answered calls ÷ Total call attempts) × 100**

A higher ASR generally indicates better call quality, routing, or list effectiveness, since more dialed calls reach a person or endpoint.

Sometimes abbreviated as VM. An electronic system that stores voice messages from telephone callers. Voicemail can also refer to a spoken message left by a caller on a voicemail system. In the Voiso contact center, calls can be directed to voicemail when no agents are available to answer the call.

An outbound calling campaign where agents are assigned to handle calls that are automatically dialed and connected by the Voiso Dialer. Dialer handles the rate at which calls are dialed based on the number of available agents. The list of phone numbers in the campaign are pre-loaded from a CSV file or imported from a CRM.

CID. The identification phone number used for an outbound call. The number that is displayed to the call recipient. CIDs might become flagged by phone network providers if they are reported as SPAM or fraudulent.

Comma-Separated Values. A data file format where the content is structured in tabular form. Fields (data values) are separated by commas. Rows (records) are separated by line feeds. Voiso supports UTF-8 format for CSV files. CSV files allow interchange of data between spreadsheet applications, text files, and database. It is a common format for importing and exporting data. Each row represents a record. Each value represents an attribute.

Direct to Voicemail. The number of outbound calls answered by an Answering Machine. The number of outbound calls that connected and had a duration of less than Y seconds and were assumed to be answered by voicemail, where Y is a limit defined by the contact center administrator.

ASR. The percentage of outbound calls that are answered.
