Start a new Automation from a ready-made template, or save your own Automations as templates to reuse them.
Introduction
An Automation template is a reusable blueprint for an Automation. A template never runs and never sends messages. To use it, you turn it into an Automation, then add your own values.
Templates are on the Automation templates tab of Automation > Workflow studio.
Default templates
Every contact center starts with three default templates:
| Template | Trigger | Conditions | Action |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp confirmation on wrap-up | Dialer call ended | Wrap-up code | Send a WhatsApp message |
| SMS follow-up on disposition | Dialer call ended | Disposition | Send an SMS |
| Voicemail → WhatsApp follow-up | Dialer call ended | Wrap-up code and redial_scheduled equals false |
Send a WhatsApp message |
A template gives you the shape of an Automation, not a working Automation. Before it can run, you must choose:
- the campaigns it covers
- the wrap-up code or disposition to match. Voiso does not know the names of your codes.
- the WhatsApp template, or the Sender ID and the SMS text
Voicemail → WhatsApp follow-up
This template sends a WhatsApp message when a call reaches voicemail, but only if the dialer will not call the number again. The rule redial_scheduled equals false is already filled in for you. If the dialer has a redial scheduled for the number, no message is sent. This way, a customer does not receive a "we tried to reach you" message and then a call a few minutes later.
You still need to select your own voicemail wrap-up code.
Create an Automation from a template
You can start from a template in two ways.
From the Workflows tab:
- Click Add workflow.
- Enter a Workflow name, select Automation, then click Next.
- Select Start from a template, pick a template, then click Next.
From a template you are editing:
- On the Automation templates tab, open a template.
- Click Save as a workflow.
- Enter a Workflow name, then click Save & open workflow builder.
Voiso creates a new Automation from the template. The template itself does not change. Complete the Automation and switch it on, as described in Creating an Automation.
Template mode
When you open a template, the Workflow builder is in template mode:
- A Template mode label appears next to the name.
- A banner reminds you that this is a blueprint, not a live workflow, and will not run.
- The save button is called Save template.
This helps you tell templates and live Automations apart while you work.
Add your own templates
Save an Automation as a template:
- Open an Automation in the Workflow builder.
- Click Save as a template.
- Enter a Template name and, if you want, a Description.
- Click Save & open template builder.
Voiso copies the Automation to Automation templates and opens the copy. Your Automation keeps running without changes.
Build a template from scratch:
- On the Automation templates tab, click Add template.
- Enter a Name and, if you want, a Description.
- Click Save & open template builder.
Manage templates
Click the ⋮ menu on a template card to:
- Clone — make a copy of the template.
- Rename — change the template's name and description.
- Delete — delete the template. Voiso asks you to confirm.
- Reset to default — available only for default templates that you have changed (see below).
You can clone, rename, and delete any template, including the default templates.
If you delete a default template, you cannot get it back.
Reset to default
Reset to default returns a default template to exactly how it was first provided, including its original name. It appears only when a default template has been changed, for example renamed or edited.
- Everything you changed in the template is removed. Voiso asks you to confirm first.
- Automations that you already created from the template do not change.
- Reset to default is not available for templates you created, or for copies of default templates that you made with Clone.
- If another template already has the original name, the reset is stopped. Rename that other template, then try again.
To keep your changes, Clone the template first, then reset the original.
